Estimates only, not a loan offer. Figures assume a 5% origination fee added to the balance and no rate reductions. Your actual terms depend on your credit profile, state and lender.

Three quick experiments

Get more out of the calculator

1. Shorten the term

Switch from 36 to 24 months and watch the total repaid. The payment rises a little; the interest falls a lot.

2. Borrow less

Drop the amount by $500. At high APRs, a small cut in the amount removes a surprising chunk of interest.

3. Check the 35.99% line

The box under the results shows the same loan at 35.99% APR. That gap is what shopping around can save you.

Plain English

What the numbers mean

APR

The yearly cost of the loan including fees. The only fair way to compare two offers.

Amount financed

What you borrow plus any fee added to the balance. Interest is charged on all of it.

Total interest

Everything you pay on top of the amount financed.

Total repaid

Payment multiplied by the number of payments. The number that matters most.

Origination fee

A one-off charge for setting up the loan, either added to your balance or taken from your cash.

Payment schedule

Monthly, twice a month or every two weeks. More frequent payments are smaller but there are more of them.

Reality check

Can your budget carry the payment?

A payment that looks fine on a calculator can still break a tight month. Run this quick test before you apply.

  1. Add up your fixed bills. Rent, utilities, insurance, phone, minimum debt payments.
  2. Subtract them from your take-home pay. What is left covers food, fuel and everything else.
  3. Take away the loan payment. If less than a comfortable cushion remains, choose a smaller amount or a longer term.
  4. Plan for a bad month. One late payment brings fees and restarts Personify's rate-reduction clock.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is this loan calculator?

It uses the standard loan payment formula, so the maths is exact for the numbers you enter. Your real payment depends on the APR, fee and schedule your lender offers, which you only see after you apply.

What APR should I enter?

If you have an offer, use its APR. If not, try a low, middle and high value. Personify's published examples are 58.55%, 97.19% and 177.36%, and you can load them with one tap.

Why does the calculator add a 5% fee?

Personify adds an origination fee of 5% to 5.99% to your balance, so you pay interest on it. Including it gives a more honest estimate. Lenders with no such fee will come out slightly lower.

Does using the calculator affect my credit?

No. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere or saved. It runs entirely in your browser.
